Q. What is the Volumizing Face Lift?
A. The Volumizing Face Lift is a minimal down time non-aggressive method to restore the natural contours of the lower two thirds of the face. It is performed using a volumizing filler and/or the body’s own collagen making processes. It is therefore natural as you are using the normal structural components of your skin. It does not give you that pulled-tight appearance. There is no cutting or general anesthesia
Q. How do age related changes form?
A. As skin ages, collagen fibers in the dermis break down, there is a gradual loss in hyaluronic acid, and abnormal elastin fibers increase and clump together. The skin becomes stiffer and less elastic, and when subjected to repeated movement by the underlying muscles, such as in the forehead, and around the eyes and lips, wrinkles appear. Exposure to the sun and smoking greatly will accelerate this process, and it occurs earliest in patients with thinner, lighter skin. Some of the principal changes seen in the aging face include:
“Furrows” caused by loss of elasticity and laxity of underlying muscles and ligaments.
“Sagging and Folds” caused by loss of underlying fat cushions, gravity, and loss of underlying skeletal structures.
Q. How is the Volumizing Face Lift performed?
A. Our providers evaluate the patient’s skin to determine the changes that have occurred to create the age-related effects. He may supplement his analysis using photos supplied by the patient of themselves over the past 10 to 30 years. He then creates a plan to lift the skin and rebuild the natural contours and appearance of the face using Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, or Sculptra. Sculptra; micro-particles act as seeds to form new collagen. The new collagen gradually lifts the skin back towards its previous more youthful appearance over time.
Q. How long does the Volumizing Face Lift last?
A. Treatment results will differ for each person. In a clinical studies, the treatment results last from 14 months up to 2 years after the first treatment session depending on the material. Touch-up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect for a longer period of time.
